Today I wanted to share an everyday card I created which highlights some of the things I love most -- flowers and "shabby" pastels! I love it!!
This card has a lot going on, I know, but I think it works... I have 'fessed up before -- though I love simplicity (and admire it in others' work), it just hasn't ever been my thing! :)
I created the flower using a technique I described in this post. It's such a fun technique (warning: can produce really sore fingers! :) and packs a punch. The flourishes I die-cut on kraft cardstock and then applied a couple of layers of gesso for texture. Just before the final layer dried completely, I added some Rock Candy Stickles for sparkle (add just before the gesso dries so that you can mix them together for extra texture!).
Hope you like it -- please let me know what you think! I appreciate you stopping by and would love to hear from you! :)
Supplies:
- Hero Arts stamp - "Everyday Sayings"
- Patterned papers, colored cardstocks, kraft cardstock
- Claudine Hellmuth white gesso
- Rock Candy Stickles
- Tim Holtz Distress Inks- Vintage Photo
- Brads, adhesives
Love the composition, Jen! The flow of the design is superb! Gorgeous card all around!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Virginia! That means a lot to me coming from you! I have been admiring your work both on your blog and on Flickr lately -- just fantastic work! Thanks for visiting my blog!!! :)
DeleteJen - thank you so much for the lovely comment on my blog! You are too nice! I'm actually challenging myself to do the CAS thing, as it's not my "go-to" style either - although my go-to isn't super embellished either. I guess I'm kinda in between. Anyway, that's why I started my blog segment "Simple Card Saturday", to force myself to do CAS, and now I kinda' like it! I love that you think I "nail" every detail! YAY! Thanks again! Ok, I gotta go check out the tutorial on how to make this beautiful flower. Awesome!
