They Call Me Mellow Yellow!

Hello!  Hope your week is kicking off with a bang!  :)

I am officially on my last day of vacation, but I can honestly say I'm ok with that!  I have had lots of time to rest, to just do *fun* things, whatever!  This obviously means I have spent many hours in my craft room this week…  Lots of fun!  :)

I wanted to pop in today with a card I made because I had this color scheme in my head and just had to do something with it!  It's an aqua, buttercream, and a gold yellow.  (incidentally, I used PTI's Aqua Mist and Harvest Gold, and HA's Butter Bar)

{Sidenote:  Last weekend, I was finally able to convince my mom to spend a little crafty time with me (this just isn't really her thing usually…).  I talked her into making a card and even let her ink up a brand new stamp set I hadn't even had a chance to play with yet (you stampers understand…)!  In this process, we spent quite a while trying to pick a color scheme she liked and I stumbled into this one -- which I loved, but she didn't!  lol. }

The layout of this card is inspired by this week's sketch over at (CAS)E This Sketch!

Hope you like it…  I'll be back soon -- like I said, I've got lots to share over the next several days!  ;)

Got a minute?? :)

Hello, and Happy Friday!  I am excited for several reasons today…  First, my beloved Spurs won last night and are advancing to the NBA Conference finals…  (whew!).  Second, I am officially beginning my countdown to vacation -- one week from tomorrow, I will be starting a 10-day vacation (only seven work days to go!!!).

And, finally, I have several projects to share with you today that I am super-excited about!  :)

All of these have been inspired by the PaperSmooches Sparks Challenges -- a couple are from sketches and one from am inspiration photo…  Sooooo…  without further ado…  Here we go!

PaperSmooches:  Get Outta Town & My Guy

This card (which I LOVE!) was based on the sketch above (translated quite literally, I might add!).  I think it's a super-fun take on our "need to get away" every now and then!  {Side note: The last time I thought I would be super-swanky and cool and rent a convertible on my vacation, we were in Florida. In August.  It was 140 degrees with 98% humidity.  The top never came down, not even once.  True story.}

PaperSmooches:  Spring Groves,  My Guy,  &  Word Salad

This card was inspired by this adorable picture (who doesn't love burlap and buttons??).  I loved the look of the stacked buttons and wanted to play with that on my card.  Pretty fun, no??  :)

PaperSmooches:  Word Salad &  Get Outta Town

This card was inspired by the sketch above.  It's a bit of a departure for me -- I wanted to keep it pretty simple -- and just let the stamps speak for themselves!  I love those little cocktails!  :)  (In fact, I might need one…  ;)

Hope you get your weekend off to a rockin' great start!  Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Pretty in Purple!

Good mornin'!  And happy Friday!  I mentioned a couple of posts back that I have really just been in the mood to color recently… and it's true.  I have found myself in each of my last several projects intentionally looking for stamp sets that would allow me to pull out my Copics -- and today's post is no exception…

This one took me awhile (like, a couple of nights), which at the time was just what I needed -- pure distraction! :)

I have mentioned here before (like on this card) that some of my favorite images to color are actually pieces of art by the fabulously talented Hannah Lynn (I first heard of her from a lady I sat next to in one of my Copics certification classes).  Hannah sells digi stamps (like I used here) and other coloring goodies in her etsy store.

Anyway, she does a lot of things I'm not normally into (like fairies and dragons and things like that), but I can't resist her faces and eyes and hair -- crazy fun to color!!!

I based this card on the sketch over at RetroSketches this week (or, at least, an inverted version of it!).

Hope you like it -- I think she's kinda purty…  I wish I had hair like that -- can you say "straight as a board?!?!"  ;)

Have a fabulous Friday -- I know I plan to!  :)

Floral Frenzy!

Good morning!  You ever just have periods of time where you feel especially creative and are actually lucky enough to also happen to have the time to spend on your creative ventures??  Well, here it is -- 3:00 in the morning and I have just enjoyed 6 hours like that!  And, boy!  Was that just what I needed!! :)

{I also love when you happen to find a really great movie on that you practically know by heart and can just have it playing in the background…  Tonight "13 Going On 30" was on…  embarrassed to admit it, but I adore that movie!  Who wouldn't fall for Mark Ruffalo in that one?!?}

I wanted to share a card I made based on the inspiration card offered up this week over at Muse Card Club.  It's a lovely CAS stamped floral card by Marion Vagg and I was drawn to a couple of things on the card.  I love the two-tone stamping of her flowers and her pink & purple color scheme.  So I thought I'd give it a go…

Here's my take:

I mentioned a couple of posts back that I have a couple of weddings to attend this month, so I thought this would make a good "for the happy couple" kind of card…  :)

And here's Marion's original -- see where I drew my inspiration?

On a separate note, my heart is aching today for the people of the fabulous city of Boston (my favorite city!).  My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of those affected by the senseless acts of violence and destruction that occurred there earlier today.

Wishing for you, my friends, love and peace and protection -- wherever you may be…

Mad Dash

Hello!  and Happy Friday!  Thought I'd try something new today and really push myself beyond my comfort zone…  I have mentioned before that I am not the speediest of crafters -- if fact, that's really putting it mildly…  Usually, every step in the process takes me a while (which, truthfully, is really what I love about this hobby -- it allows me the time to escape and just concentrate on making something  pretty (or "rilly pritty," as my young niece says!).

I have followed the "10 Minute Craft Dash" since Paulina launched it some time ago…  I was in shock and awe (and utter amazement) at what she and her DT were able to come up with in only 10 minutes!  But me??  I was too scared to try…  I knew I'd never, NEVER be able to complete an entire project in that amount of time!

The concept is simple -- take the assigned color scheme and 10 minutes and….  GO!!!

I guess you know where I'm going with this….  Today, I decided to give it my best shot.  Thankfully, the rules say you can gather all your supplies before you start your timer, so I did that (and even had them set out where I'd need them first: some by my paper trimmer, my dies by my Big Shot, etc!).  And I sketched what I wanted to do, and noted all the measurements I needed to cut to, and was ready to go!!  Took (several) deep breaths and started my timer!!!

Well, here it is (in 9:55.2, to be exact!!!  whew!):

And the proof:

Now the trick will be seeing if I can clean up the mess I made in ten minutes or less!  :)  LOL!

Anyway, what fun!  I am totally going to be participating in this challenge again!!  :)

Hope you have a Fabulous Friday…  Thanks for stopping by!

You Color My World!

Hello and Happy Thursday!  I hope your week is going well -- only a couple of days left till the weekend, eh?  :)  Just wanted to pop in today to share a card I made a couple of days ago to play along with this week's Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge…  This week is a photo inspiration spark, and I found the inspiration piece to be quite…  well…… inspiring! :)

Take a look:

I love how the piece is split into three separate works, love the graphic elements, and the mottled background with distressed edging is really cool.

I think you'll be able to see those elements reflected in my card, but I really wanted to tone down the grunginess (is that a word??) and lighten it all up!  Here's my take:

Don't you just love that sentiment??  Who wouldn't want to have somebody tell them something like that???  I created my mottled background with distress inks and used pieces from the following stamp sets to create my "flowers…"

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great weekend!  Hope it's filled with those who color your world -- wherever they may be!  :)

Fun with Paper Smooches

(I think I'm supposed to tell you here that this post is pic-heavy, but I don't really understand why people do this -- it's the pics you wanna see, no?  You're not here to listen to the inner ramblings of my mind, are you?!?)

I have a couple more projects to share that I created for the Paper Smooches Sparks DT Call!  I'm super-excited about both of these 'cuz I think they're both a lot of fun (which, btw, is why I love Paper Smooches Stamps so much in the first place!  :)

(Note: there are TWO submissions on this post -- make sure to keep scrolling!!  :)

The first card was inspired by these fabulous fabric tomatoes!

I love the colors, the textures, the patterns -- all of it!  So I decided to apply all of these to the cutest little luggage set from Paper Smooches' "Get Outta Town" stamp set!   (Oh my -- this would have to be the way to travel!!)

(I also used the "Way to Go" sentiment from the Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler.)

Now, on to the next!  For this next card, I knew I wanted to use the following inspiration photo:

This pic just screamed "guy" to me -- perrrfect, 'cuz I just happened to have the "My Guy" set from Paper Smooches.  My dad's a golfer, so I made this card that'll be going out to him for Father's Day.  (I also used a couple of the trees from the "Spring Groves" set.)

So stinkin' cute!  (If I do say so myself!  :)

Thank you for visiting!  I hope you like these as much as I do -- would love to hear what you think!

You're Tree-riffic!

Ok, so I am super-nervous about announcing this, but waaayyy excited about the opportunity, so I'm taking the leap:  I am submitting some projects for the Paper Smooches Sparks DT Call (whew...  now it's out there!) and have spent the last couple of days creating some pieces just in honor of this.

When I saw the inspiration photo below, I knew instantly what I had to do!  Check it:

The lime green!  The teal!  The stripes!  Oh my!  :)  And I had just gotten in my new Spring Groves stamp set -- and was dying to ink it up!  So here's what I came up with:

Ok, truth time:  I seriously modified the sentiment here by combining a couple of sentiments from the super-cute My Guy stamp set.  Here's a pic of that set:

Can you tell I combined the "tee-riffic" and "reel great" sentiments?  (Just for the odd occasion in which you would find yourself in need of a "You're Tree-riffic" sentiment??)  :)

Anyhoo, I hope you like it!  Methinks I do!!  :)  Thanks for visiting!  Please let me know what you think!

Happy Place

Pin It Happy Wednesday!  I just wanted to share a quick card I made for this week's challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays.  The challenge this week was to use colors on opposite ends of the color wheel...  Interesting!

My natural tendency was to go toward the blue and orange (especially when you could really go turquoise/tangerine which is kinda hot!  :)  -- but then I laid eyes on this super-cute stamp set from Paper Smooches (called "Get Outta Town" -- how cute is that?!) and just knew where I had to go!  So, purple and yellow it is!  (Sounds like a really bad band uniform, huh?)

(Note:  contrary to what this card would have you believe, I am NOT a big drinker -- however, I have been known to sip a fruity adult beverage from time to time!  :)

Additionally:  (BIG News!!)  I am submitting this card for the Paper Smooches Design Team Call.  I was inspired by the following inspiration photo and used it as a sketch:

The frames reminded me of my favorite embossing folder (!) and I loved the pop of yellow in the bottom right...  (But man, I wish my parties could look this fancy!)

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you like it -- would love to hear from you!  Hoping you find your Happy Place tonite!  :)

Forever Love

Pin It One of my really good friends is getting married in a couple of weeks and I am so thrilled for her!  She has been waiting for this day for so long and it's finally here, so I thought I would make her a card that speaks to the commitment she is making and the power of a love meant to endure!

I love the colors over at The Play Date Cafe this week -- they are perfect for a spring wedding!

I also used this week's sketch over at CPS...  Just a simple, easily adaptable sketch -- my favorite kind!!!
